PITTSBURGH (September 28, 2016) – Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Josh Harrison and his wife Brittney welcomed more than 150 guests to Hotel Monaco Sunday, September 26 for their inaugural charity event presented by Beaver County Automotive Group. “The Base Ball” raised more than $130,000 for the Josh and Brittney Harrisons for Hope Foundation.
“We want to let these kids know someone cares about them and wants to see them succeed. We’ve been blessed by the Pittsburgh community, and are grateful to call this city home. We feel it’s our responsibility to give back,” Josh said.
The foundation aims to provide low-income children with clothing from the cradle to college.
“With the programs within our foundation, like Back to School and Project Princess, we want to give children the clothing they need to succeed and feel confident in school and in their daily lives,” added Brittney.
Harrison’s Pittsburgh Pirates teammates including Gerrit Cole, Tyler Glasnow, Jared Hughes, Drew Hutchison, Jameson Taillon, Trevor Williams, Francisco Cervelli, Eric Fryer, Sean Rodriguez, Matt Joyce and Andrew McCutchen attended the event. Additionally, coach Dave Jauss and president Frank Coonelly joined Harrison and fans in a unique philanthropic experience that featured a cocktail reception, formal three-course dinner and a thrilling live auction.
Jonny Hartwell, host of the Jonny Hartwell Morning Show, on radio station 3WS, served as the evening’s emcee.
